Traffic
Heads up — Tuesday’s Chris Brown show at Carter-Finley Stadium saw concert traffic clashing with pre-state fair traffic, and some concert-goers reported missing nearly the entire show. The Lenovo Center + fair organizers continue to emphasize carpooling and arriving early for Billie Eilish. (WRAL)
Number
2,244.5. That’s how many pounds the new record-holding NC State Fair pumpkin weighs. The best part? The record was broken by the previous holder’s dad. Coming in at 28 pounds heavier, Albert Rodebaugh’s pumpkin was grown in Craigsville, West Virginia. (The News & Observer)
Ranked
The women’s basketball preseason AP poll is in, and all three Tobacco Road schools are in the top dozen. Duke ranks No. 7, NC State is No. 9, and UNC came in at No. 11. Plus, the only other ranked ACC teams are No. 15 Notre Dame and No. 20 Louisville. Sounds like it’ll be a great season.

Hot take: The Canes should be in town during the state fair instead of big artists like Billie Eilish this year and Sabrina Carpenter in 2024. In my experience, Canes fans know how to navigate the Lenovo Center + area better than out-of-town concert-goers, resulting in less traffic. Plus, I think the Canes are well-deserving of a turkey leg and a Ferris wheel ride.
