La Niña may be on the horizon. The National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center forecasts a 71% chance of the weather system from October to December. In Raleigh, this climate cycle usually brings warmer weather while in effect. (USA Today)

Calling all Studio Ghibli fans. The historic animation house is currently celebrating 40 years of timeless storytelling with Studio Ghibli Fest, featuring movie theater screenings of its most famous films. “Howl’s Moving Castle” is playing through Wednesday, Sept. 24, and “Spirited Away” is screening next month. Since May, 30 local crochet artists have gathered to create 582 mandalas — creating Mandala Sky, a canopy of color.
