Public courses

Lonnie Poole Golf Course | Home to the NC State men’s and women’s golf teams, this collegiate course is designed by Arnold Palmer... so you know it’s in good shape.

River Ridge Golf Club | This challenging course recently made the GolfPass Golfers’ Choice lists as one of the top 25 best golf courses in NC.

Wildwood Green Golf Club | Established in 1986, the greens offer seven different sets of tees to choose from, perfect for beginners and pros alike.

🎃 Trick or treat on Hillsborough Street

Nightmare on Elm Street? More like Party on Hillsborough Street: The annual Hillsborough Street Trick or Treat event returns on Sunday, Oct. 19.

Grab your best costume and round up the whole family for some Halloween fun, with:

  • Candy stations along Hillsborough Street, from Pogue Street to Logan Court (full maps will be available at both check-in booths)
  • Activities + games in Compiegne Park
  • Trunk-or-treat in the parking lot by the “Welcome to Hillsborough Street” mural
  • Themed giveaways
Plus, kids can go on a candy-filled adventure with an interactive comic book experience again this year. Pick up a comic book at either check in point, and head out on a quest with witches, warlocks, collectible stickers, and exciting activities along Hillsborough Street.

Hillsborough Street Trick or Treat is free to enter, and trick-or-treat bags will be available while supplies last. Many local restaurants and businesses will be open during the event, so stop in to support local biz on your way.

A warehouse near Durant Nature Preserve + Compass Rose Brewing could be upgraded to include 38 pickleball courts. The Underground is currently home to two private courts and a “recovery cave,” and owner Christopher Mitscherlich is seeking a rezoning from the city to add sand volleyball, badminton, and a bar.
