Lime + Spin’s new bikeshare program will have downtown Raleigh moving in a whole new way. | Photo via Lime
In a partnership with Spin and Lime, 215 electric-assist bikes are coming to downtown Raleigh to replace Cardinal Bikeshare and provide a new, flexible transportation option. Here’s what you need to know before burning some rubber.
Before hitting the streets on your sweet new ride, you’ll have to pass an in-app safety quiz and add a payment method.
Lime bikes: $2 for the first 10 minutes, $0.20 per minute after
Spin bikes: $1 to unlock, $0.35 per minute
And get this — Lime is offering 30 minutes of free wheeling for August, and Spin is $5 for 30 minutes for the first 30 days.
Not quite ready to take off the training wheels? Bike collective Oaks and Spokes is hosting a Lime First Ride Academy on Friday, Aug. 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Bend. Check out the new bikes, learn how to take them for a spin, and grab a bite before you head off into the sunset — and don’t forget your helmet. Happy Friday! Although I’m not the most experienced cyclist, I’m excited to get around town on the new Lime + Spin bikes. Lime scooters were a big deal when I was in college, and I feel like the bike is an extra step up. Maybe I’ll need to take our scooter art tour for a spin.
