Raleigh Union Station’s new bus facility, known as RUS Bus, will open its doors for use on Sunday, Aug. 3, and that’s just the start of the transformative project coming to the Warehouse District.

The new bus station will act as a hub for GoTriangle buses headed to other Triangle cities, and the Moore Square station will remain a hub for GoRaleigh transit. The new facility is complete with six bays, including space for a future bus rapid transit stop, public bathrooms, locker storage, and bike parking.

RUS Bus is located right next to Raleigh Union Station, meaning quick connections to and from Amtrak and local public transit. Plus, the area will also include a new tower with over 300 apartments, retail, dining, and more.

Attend the ribbon cutting this Friday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a first look, giveaways, food trucks, and of course, plenty of cake.

News Notes

Development

North Hills is growing again and will attempt to rezone some parcels up to 37 stories in Midtown. North Hills representatives said they’re not looking for denser buildings, just changing the shape of their plans and will submit rezoning requests in August. These projects are likely five to 15 years away, however. (Raleigh Magazine)

Watch

Eagle-eyed locals think they’ve spotted a former Cary radio station in the trailer for “Stranger Things” season 5, created by the Durham-born Duffer Brothers. In the trailer, the call sign on the building is WSQK, but we think it’s a match. (The News & Observer)

Try This

Dorothea Dix Park is celebrating 10 years this weekend with a celebration among the sunflowers. In the morning, meet with the people that make the vibrant blooms possible, and in the evening, celebrate with food trucks, local music, light-up flowers, and an exclusive Trophy beer for the occasion.

Weather

This heat’s got us dreaming of fall, and foliage forecaster ExploreFall is predicting peak colors in the Triangle between Nov. 4 and Nov. 11. Psst... you might want to head to the mountains between Oct. 20 and Oct. 28 for the prettiest leaves. (WRAL)

Ranked

Raleigh ranked as the No. 1 city for recent college graduates thanks to affordability, quality of life, and average wages. Plus, the Triangle is home to some of the best universities in the nation, so there’s plenty of grads choosing to stay in the 919. (ABC 11)

The Wrap

From Allie

There’s still some room in NC State’s fall craft classes at the Crafts Center. I picked up a pottery class to try something new, and I loved taking metalsmithing while I was a student — I still have my homemade copper earrings!
