Sun’s out, buns out — hot dog buns, that is. We’re celebrating the Fourth of July the only know we know how: With a hot dog in hand. Read up on nine faves around Raleigh, from Carolina dogs to Chicago classics.

Steve’s Place | This spot offers all the backyard barbecue fixins. Think: Foot-long chili-cheese dogs, potato salad, deviled eggs, and fresh lemonade.

CowBar | In addition to burgers, this spot serves specialty dogs. Try This: The Truffle Dog on a New England bun with truffle aioli + caramelized red onion.

My Way Tavern | Stop by this neighborhood tavern for a $5 Nathan’s hot dog basket with fries or a Mariner Dog topped with cream cheese, grilled onions, jalapeños + sriracha aioli.

Char Grill | There’s nothing more Raleigh than a bright red hot dog from this historic fast-food joint. Don’t forget an apple turnover or two while you’re placing your paper order.

The Wrap

From Allie

Happy Fourth of July. The Mariner Dog at My Way Tavern is unreal. I know it’s normal in Seattle, but cream cheese on a hot dog rocked my world.
