Lights, camera, action. The NC Museum of Art is bringing its free summer movie series to downtown Raleigh while its amphitheater is under construction, and the first screening is this Friday at Moore Square. Plus, these movies are all new releases and fit for the whole family. Here’s the lineup:
“Piece by Piece” on June 20
“The Wild Robot” on July 18
“Wicked” on Aug. 22
“Sonic the Hedgehog 3" on Sept. 26
All movies start at 7:15 p.m., but head to Moore Square early for food trucks at 5:30 p.m. and pre-movie activities like crafts, games, and a market at 6 p.m. Sounds like a perfect way to spend your Fridays this summer.

Canes center Sebastian Aho and goaltender Frederik Andersen were selected to represent their respective countries, Finland and Denmark, on the preliminary rosters for the 2026 Olympics in Milan. Due to season scheduling changes, this will be the first time since 2014 that NHL players will be in the Olympics.

It’s National Pollinator Week, and the City of Raleigh is handing out free native plants that our local pollinators are buzzing over. Upgrade your garden by heading to Walnut Creek Wetland Park, Durant Nature Preserve, or Annie Louise Wilkerson, MD Nature Preserves to pick up your own, while supplies last.

Mad Gallica, an innovative, genre-bending artist from Wilmington, is debuting her pop opera show at the Lincoln Theatre this Thursday, June 19, and you won’t want to miss this trippy, ethereal show. Learn more about Mad Gallica and her past as part of Swedish heavy metal band Ghost.

Duke Health has broken ground on its new Cary hospital. The building has been approved for at least 40 hospital beds off Green Level Road and will cut travel times for southwest Wake patients. Duke Health Cary currently consists of primary care + specialist offices. (WUNC)
