🎨 NCMA’s new look

A rendering of a potential change to the NCMA
The NC Museum of Art will undergo a massive transformation in the next few years. | Rendering provided by NCMA
Beginning next month, the North Carolina Museum of Art will undergo changes as part of capital projects at its Raleigh and Winston-Salem locations thanks to a new division of the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

Revitalization includes a new entrance for the East Building, where special rotating collections like the Grace Hartigan exhibit are housed. The space will feature a new cafe, lounge, and artmaking opportunities. Plus, expect an outdoor space behind the East Building that can be reserved for special events.

The capital project will also include a renovation of the Joseph M. Bryan, Jr., Theater in the Museum Park for more accessibility + comfort during events, and a revitalization of the museum’s Art Conservation Center.

Construction will reach completion in two to three years — all galleries will remain open, but outdoor concerts at the museum will be put on pause through 2027.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Allie

Folks, if you get the chance, watch a playoff Canes game at The Rialto. I felt like I was back in the Lenovo Center, and winning with fellow fans around was the best feeling.

I also wanted to extend a special hello to reader Leigh-Anne. She said hi to me at our Raleigh Neighborhood College graduation — more on that soon — and said she and her husband read RALtoday every morning. Thanks for supporting us!
