🏀 Pack on the attack
We’re hoping to see plenty more celebrations from the Wolfpack women’s basketball team this weekend. | Photo by Mitchell Northam, WUNC
After an impressive win over SMU, the NC State women’s basketball team has secured the No. 1 seed in the ACC tournament and shares the regular season title with Notre Dame — plus a No. 7 AP ranking. We’re looking ahead to the ACC Tournament in Greensboro where the Pack just might take it all.
NC State and Notre Dame tied for the regular season with a 16-2 conference record, but because NC State beat the Fighting Irish, the Pack gets to claim the No. 1 seed — and we might just encounter the Irish again on the ACC Championship stage.
The 2025 Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament starts tomorrow, Wednesday, March 5 at the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro — No. 5 UNC’s first game is Wednesday, and No. 3 Duke and NC State will play their first games on Friday. If you can’t make it out to GSO, all games will be available on the ACC Network, ESPN 2, and ESPN.
The Buy
The Buy
A cast-iron smash burger press. Made from high-quality cast iron, this grill press uses pressure to improve flavor and texture, get restaurant-quality sear marks, and speed up cooking time of fish, burgers, sandwiches, and more.
Call me biased, but I think this is the year the NC State women’s basketball team might win it all for the first time ever. The closest the Wolfpack has come to the National Championship came during runs to the Final Four in 1998, and of course, 2024. With a winner like Wes Moore in your corner, you can’t lose.
Psst... Former City Editor Cat knows a whole lot more about local wedding venues than I do, so she graciously offered her knowledge for this newsletter. Thanks, Cat!

When did NC State women’s basketball last beat a No. 1 team at home?
It was 1978. The Pack’s last win over a No. 1 team was a road win against Louisville in 2021.
