RDU is upping its game, with 11 dining + drinks experiences opening in 2024 and three more slated for 2025. | Renderings provided by RDU
We recently shared some of our fave places to dine + shop at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). Now, we’re back to share 11 of 2024’s new restaurants, bars + eateries.

What’s exciting: The restaurants are evolving the RDU-dining landscape to a food-lover’s mix of elevated sit-downs, grub to-gos, locally-famous sips, and curated menus by recognizable local + national food celebrity names.

Think: Yes, you should make arriving early a new habit.

Crawford’s Genuine

Terminal 2, Gate C1
Opening summer 2024

From James Beard-nominated (and Raleigh favorite) chef Scott Crawford comes an exciting menu of NC-inspired American cuisine, including wood-grilled meats, hearty breakfast bowls, hot sandwiches, local sips + more.

Beyu Caffé

Terminal 1, Ticketing/Bag Claim; Terminal 2, Ticketing
Now open

While Beyu Caffe isn’t new (it’s a Durham favorite), their rich coffee and soulful vibes are now at RDU. Look for the fan-fave Heart & Soul Signature blend + Dope Specialties coffees, which are, well, dope.

Bond Brothers Kitchen & Bar

Terminal 2, Gate D3
Opening late 2024

Sip on the popular Cary brewery’s award-winning lineup of NC spirits and beers (including the RDU-exclusive No Turbulence IPA) while noshing on Southern comfort food classics.

Bongiorno & Son Italian Specialties

Terminal 2, Gate D5
Opening late 2024

With a long family history in Northeast Italian eats (and some local Raleigh love), the family-owned market and deli will offer a yum array of grub Italian sandwiches, including the famous meatball parmigiana.

Bobby’s Burgers by Bobby Flay

Terminal 2, Gate C18
Opening late 2024

Chow down on a burger from Food Network star Bobby Flay? Yes, please. Get ready for a mouthwatering burger experience as Bobby brings his favorite Flay-vors from across the US, including his signature Crunchburger (pro tip: don’t skip the potato chips).

Dunkin’

Terminal 2, Gate C15
Opening late 2024

Donut miss that Dunkin’ is bringing it’s famous donuts + coffee to RDU (think: takeoff happy).

Keep reading for five more restaurants, including more celebrity chefs, familiar local sips + this just-opened, RAL-favorite artisan coffee.

Starting Monday, July 15, your favorite downtown small businesses will be hosting sales, giveaways, special events, and more thanks to DTR Retail Week.

In honor of this upcoming week, we wanted to shout out a few of our favorite independent vendors downtown.

Copperline Plant Company, 23 W. Hargett St. | City Editor Allie here — I can never leave this plant store empty handed. Besides high-quality houseplants, I love shopping this store’s assortment of pots + plant accessories.

The Green Monkey, 215 S. Wilmington St. | Recently relocated to the heart of downtown, owners Rusty + Drew have created a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community with a fun bar + retail options.

The Self Care Marketplace, 12 W. Martin St. | Find all sorts of items dedicated to healing yourself at this store. Plus, keep an eye out for soothing events + classes.

These retailers will have special deals + events throughout the week:

At Curate, you can get a free “shop small” tote if you spend $75 or more, and from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, get fitted for permanent jewelry at the shop.

Also on Saturday, July 20, celebrate one year of Blackbird Books & Coffee with a birthday celebration featuring the Poetry Fox, giveaways, and more.

Hippo Wine Bar is hosting a bevvy of events, including Christmas in July cookies, pet adoptions, and free wine tastings.

For those with a sweet tooth, grab high-quality Videri chocolate for 10% off when you mention DTR Retail Week.

Check out plenty more local events + deals by keeping up with DTR Independent Shops on Instagram — they’ll be posting more about shopping local.

Shop these local spots and plenty more July 15-21 and keep our downtown retail scene thriving.

How about that rain? Not to sound cliche, but we needed that.

Psst... if you’re a fan of Cookout’s watermelon shake, today’s the first day to get one. You can even check out the future home of Roo’s Chicken while grabbing one of my favorite unique treats.
