The NC Turnpike Authority is gearing up to host 540 Fest tocelebrate the completion of the Triangle Expressway. Runners and cyclists can compete in a 5K, 10K, or Duathlon with registration on June 22, from 8 a.m. until noon — less than 200 spots remain for runners. (The News & Observer)
Plan Ahead
Pinehurst Golf Resort is preparing for the 2024 US Open, expecting at least 250,000 attendees. The event starts Monday with the main tournament beginning Thursday, which will feature complimentary hydration stations amid NC heat. Raleigh’s city council approved nearly $500,000 in funding The Great Raleigh Cleanup to continue and expand The Workforce. This program employs people experiencing homelessness to clean the city’s parks, waterways, and roads and supports them with living wages.

Raleigh announces June job fairs

The City of Raleigh has announced that it will participate in two career fair events in June to offer opportunities for professional development, networking, information sessions, and employment.
On June 8, 1-4 p.m., the Local Government Expo will be held at the NC State McKimmon Center with more than 40 municipalities featured. Employers will focus on careers in construction, business administration, environmental sciences, public health + safety, technology, and more. To participate, register online prior to the event.
The following week, the City of Raleigh Operations Job Fair will take place June 14, from 12-3 p.m. at the Chavis Community Center and will emphasize positions in operational roles. Attendees will have access to hiring managers, details of each position, application stations, and participate in interviews. Pre-registration is not required for the Operations Job Fair.
