The newly renovated Stone Houses at Dorothea Dix Park are now open as a welcome center and office spaces for park employees. These 100-year-old houses were previously used for Dix Hospital patients and have been revitalized as part of the park’s strategic plan.

Brookside Bodega has closed after two years on Brookside Drive, and the space is now home to Otomi. While we’ll miss the bites from Brookside, we’re excited to try classic tacos, quesadillas, and guisados from this new concept.

You might not be smarter than this seventh grader — Davis Drive Middle School student Ananya Rao Prassanna tied for third place in the Scripps National Spelling Bee last week. This was Ananya’s third trip to the national spelling bee and progressed from 74th place in 2023. Great job, Ananya.(CBS 17)

Raleigh architect Matt Pearson is the mind behind a new memorial on the beaches of Normandy honoring the US naval combat demolition units on D-Day. Later this week, President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron plan to visit the memorial. (Triangle Business Journal)

Hey Raleigh. I was gone last week for a trip to New York City, and all I can think about since is more public transit in Raleigh, especially to sports events.
This weekend, my boyfriend and I visited the Duke Lemur Center in Durham, which was just incredible. My favorite were the Coquerel’s sifakas — you might recognize them from the kids show “Zoboomafoo,” which was partially filmed at the lemur center.
