Sign up to volunteer and show up for some environmentally friendly fun. | Graphic by The Great Raleigh Cleanup + RALtoday
This weekend, we’re helping The Great Raleigh Cleanup throw an Earth Day Extravaganza, and we want to see you there. Join us this Sunday, April 21 in Moore Square to make a difference for our planet + community.
With a “do better” mentality, this all-day celebration will be filled with service, activities, and vendors to show support for our environment, highlight ways to become more eco-friendly, and raise funds for our friends at TGRC who have removed over 127,864 pounds of litter from the City of Oaks since 2020.
The sustainable fun will kick off in the morning with a run hosted by FleetFeet, followed by a relaxing flow on the lawn led by Alina from YogaSix. Next, TGRC and RALtoday will pick up trash around the city with help from volunteers during a community cleanup — Sunday’s cleanup is full, so please do not attend without signing up in advance. Instead, join Saturday’s cleanup.
After beautifying downtown, you’ll want to take a stroll through the Earth Day Market to meet local environmentally conscious vendors like Haven Farm, Fillaree, Ky’s Kandles + Little Oak Collective. Then, grab a bite from a food truck and participate in a massive plant swap with The Houseplant Hippie and Copperline Plant Co.
DJ Handsome Robb will keep the good vibes going with some tunes, and the day will come to a close with popcorn and the showing of “Wall-E” on the lawn at 3:30 p.m.
Already have plans? Don’t worry — you can show your support for this nonprofit by volunteering at another upcoming cleanup or by donating to TGRC to help it reach $100,000 to keep truckin’ along... but we do hope to see you there.

While we’re talking Earth Day, I’ve been trying to step up my recycling game, and encourage you to do the same. Plastic can be especially deceptive to recycle, and this article from the City of Raleigh provides sorting best practices. I also found this guide to hard-to-dispose of items useful.
