Get ready to rock around Raleigh. The City of Oaks is teeming with talent and live holiday performances — here are a few to sing, hum, and dance along to this season:
The North Carolina Symphony is performing three special shows at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts; Handel Messiah (Friday, Dec. 1 + Saturday, Dec. 2), Holiday Pops (Friday, Dec. 8-Saturday, Dec. 9), and A Candlelight Christmas (Friday, Dec. 22 + Saturday, Dec. 23).
Watch The Justice Theater Project’s Black Nativity In Concert on Saturday, Dec. 9 or Sunday, Dec. 10 outdoors at Joseph M. Bryan Jr. Theater in the Museum Park at the NCMA.
Get into the holiday spirit with a night of Christmas Music & Beach Classics at The Rialto featuring The Embers and Craig Woolard Saturday, Dec. 23. Or, you can enjoy the sounds of the Durham Symphony: Holiday Pops at this neighborhood theater on Friday, Dec. 13.
Sing along with the NC Theatre’s “Elf — The Musical” live Saturday, Dec. 9 through Sunday, Dec. 17 at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts.
Get blown away by the Carolina Ballet’s reimagined production of “The Nutcracker” — catch this classical performance Thursday, Dec. 14 through Sunday, Dec. 24.

In case you missed it, the Museum of Life and Science added a new member to its animal family. Last week, a nine-month-old black bear cub made his debut in his new habitat. Museum staff is asking visitors to be patient as the cub adjusts and to stay tuned for a naming contest.

Share your thoughts on the latest design plans for Smoky Hollow Park during an open house at Halifax Community Center on Saturday, Dec. 9. City staff + project designers will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to answer questions, take comments, and give updates.

Give back to the community and become part of the City of Raleigh’s Elf Squad. Drop off new toys for Raleigh families in need by Friday, Dec. 15 at more than 20 locations like Pullen Arts Center or Lake Johnson Park.

Dogwood Country Club is welcoming Santa to its indoor golf facility on Sunday, Dec. 10. From 2 to 5 p.m., the club will offer photo ops, a build your own hot chocolate bar, s’mores packages with wood burning fires, and seasonal cocktails for purchase. Admission is $15 per adult.
