Tackle Wolfpack football season

The 2023 NC State football season is packed with exciting stadium upgrades and new faces

NC State football season is less than a week away — the Wolfpack takes on UConn away on Thursday, Aug. 31 and comes home to Carter-Finley Stadium Saturday, Sept. 9 to play against Notre Dame. NC State has a packed season ahead, so we’ve got your guide to get you in the know for the 2023 season.

Stadium upgrades + getting around

First things first: The video board. Carter-Finley is being upgraded with a 166-foot video board, over double the width of the previous board and the No. 11 largest in college football. Plus, expect some fan-favorite elements to be bigger and better with a new concert-grade sound system.

To make the most of your game day, plan your route ahead of time. There is major construction + a closure (with anticipated completion in fall 2024) near the stadium, so give your Pack some extra travel time. Also, Carter-Finley has a clear bag policy. Here’s a fanny pack and purse to order before the season starts.

Get to know the team

Graduate quarterback Brennan Armstrong is new to the Pack this year with four years under his belt at UVA. Alongside him is offensive coordinator Robert Anae, who worked at UVA with Armstrong from 2018-2021. Anae is a fast-paced and high-scoring coach, and we hope this means exciting games and plenty of touchdown celebrations to come.

Keep rooting for returning players like sophomore QB2 MJ Morris and graduate tight end Trent Pennix. Get acquainted with the whole roster.

Can’t-miss games

NC State is up against some formidable opponents this year at home. Don’t miss the match against the Clemson Tigers and the Thanksgiving brawl against UNC. Over the last 10 years, NC State stands 6-4 against UNC with a two-game win streak.

Non-ACC rivals promise a great game, too. Catch a November battle against the Miami Hurricanes and plenty more exciting Wolfpack matchups here.
