The Triangle is a booming tech hub filled with pharmaceutical, software, and major STEM companies. Raleigh is the No. 5 job market in the US, meaning there are lots of employment opportunities, not just in tech.

Whether you’re new to the area, looking for a career change, or are just curious about other Triangle-based businesses, here are just a few non-STEM focused companies headquartered in the Triangle — with links to open job listings.

Advance Auto Parts | 4200 Six Forks Rd., Raleigh | As Raleigh’s only Fortune 500 company, you can join the day-to-day operations at this automotive parts manufacturer’s HQ location. The company reported $500 million in profits last year — and they’re hiring for hybrid, remote, and in-person positions from accounting to sales.

Golden Corral | 5400 Trinity Rd., Ste. 309, Raleigh | Did you know this buffet chain was founded in Raleigh in 1973? This nearly-400 location restaurant’s corporate HQ near PNC Arena isn’t hiring at the moment, but stay tuned for potential openings.

Peter Millar | 1501 Sunrise Ave., Raleigh | Since 2001, Peter Millar has been making casual sportswear for men and women. Current openings include designer, copywriter, and account manager.

Waste Industries | 3301 Benson Dr., Ste. 601, Raleigh | Founded by NC State alum and the university’s largest donor Lonnie Poole, this waste management subsidiary of GFL Environmental has customer service, network architecture, and management positions available in Raleigh.

Burt’s Bees | 211 W Pettigrew St., Durham | Check out manufacturing positions in both Morrisville and Durham and be part of making inventive beeswax products. The company recently did a collab with Two Roosters to make locally inspired lip balms like Sola Cinnamon Donut and Blackberry Hibiscus from Tin Roof Teas.

Counter Culture | 812 Mallard Ave., Durham | This local coffee roaster’s beans are served in local cafes and restaurants and at over 5,000 locations across the country. Current openings include the opportunity to join their distribution process or work with coffee professionals in the area.

Ready to be your own boss instead? NC is the No. 5 cheapest state to start a business in and you can even start one from your home.

The Word

Answered

Last week we asked “Where should we hit the road to next?” and here’s what you said:

A boat floats by a building suspended over the water.
Edenton was NC’s first colonial capital. | Photo via Visit Edenton
In NC, Lynn C. suggested Edenton for its “cute B&Bs, new restaurants and shops, + historic sites” as well as Manteo for “Tranquil House Inn, Elizabethan Gardens, ‘The Lost Colony’ and live concerts at Roanoke Island Festival Park.” Eastern NC roadtrip anyone?

Dwight N. recommended High Point for their “downtown baseball stadium” — we might have to become Rockers fans.

Kathy W. endorsed Oxford for its “quiet beautiful streets and a wonderful gem called Family Diner” with the “best comfort food ever.”

Melinda J. nominated Youngsville for spots like “Yacht Club, Bud’s Tavern, and HomeSlice.”

Outside of NC, Sarah B. recommended Pittsburgh, PA, specifically the Strip District, a half square mile foodie heaven with good prices and great food. Sounds right up our alley.
Any more suggestions?
