Historical influence
The interior design pays homage to the surrounding Smoky Hollow neighborhood, which Cline Design hopes to revitalize with this project and the surrounding areas like Seaboard Station. Drawing from historical landmarks nearby – including Deveraux Meadow, Raleigh’s minor league stadium – the designers mixed natural wood and greenery elements throughout the space.
Boasting preserved moss, NC reclaimed wood, cool stones and metals, the “organic modernism” decor is showcased throughout the amenity areas, creating unique gathering areas + quiet spaces throughout the building.
Local art throughout the building
Many local and NC artists contributed to the interior elements. Raleigh Reclaimed built the leasing desks and the business center’s high-top community table. They also provided a reclaimed wood beam for the concierge desk. Raleigh Slabs crafted the sliding barn doors in the clubroom. Neon artist Nate Sheaffer created a neon Peace logo sign in the coffee bar. And local artist Kluttz Thompson Designs painted the mural on the game room’s brick wall.
Home to a new downtown supermarket
The new 55,000-sqft. Publix is located on the ground floor of the building with an entrance on W. Peace St. The opening of the store remedies the food desert issues faced by surrounding areas’ residents and workforce.
West St. art installation
Who doesn’t love a great piece of art that also doubles as a background for a photoshoot? Martha Clippinger’s “Switch Point” mural is installed along the West St. side of the building. The dimensional mural offers an appealing backdrop to residents + visitors of downtown Raleigh.
