City Editor Cat here — my parents recently went to a Coldplay and Imagine Dragons performance presented by Candlelight Concerts and were blown away.

Picture this: You’re listening to your favorite music being performed by professional musicians, ranging from string quartets to brass bands, while surrounded by the glow of thousands of flickering candles.

This elegant music display gives music fans a chance to listen to famous tunes in a whole new way, and each concert takes place in a unique location, including Raleigh’s Merrimon-Wynne House and All Saints Chapel. There is a wide variety of themes and genres to choose from like pop, rock, and movie soundtracks.

The next local performance is Neo-Soul Favorites Featuring Songs by Prince, Childish Gambino, and More this Wednesday, Jan. 10 at the Merrimon-Wynne House by a string quartet. A Tribute to Taylor Swift is next up on Tuesday, Jan. 16 and will be performed by local string quartet Lyricosa at the Merrimon-Wynne House.
