Cryptocurrency has been a hot topic recently, with happenings like Elon Musk tweeting that he was sending a satellite called Doge-1 to the moon paid for by the cryptocurrency Dogecoin.

According to CoinMarketMap, there are currently 10,500+ different cryptocurrencies available to the public (like Bitcoin), and the global crypto market cap is at ~$1.3 trillion.
💲Recently, Food Lion + Harris Teeter locations in the Triangle have become places to buy Bitcoin (the world’s leading cryptocurrency). Coinstar kiosks — where shoppers usually deposit loose change — now allow you to purchase Bitcoin, with a daily limit of up to $2,500.
🛍️Lolli — a Durham-based startup — is a browser extension + mobile app that allows shoppers to earn Bitcoin as rewards when they shop online. The company has an impressive list of investors, including names like Serena Williams and TikTok-star fund Animal Capital.
🤝If you’re interested in Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies, or blockchain technology — there’s a group for that. Triangle Bitcoin Meetup hosts weekly events + even has a Slack channel for enthusiasts to connect with one another.
⛽Soon, you’ll be able to pay for your snacks at Sheetz locations in Raleigh with cryptocurrency. The convenience store will be the first of its kind to accept digital currency later this summer.
