A new look is coming to Raleigh’s Depot Historic District, and it’ll connect Glenwood South, the Warehouse District, and the West End. The developer, LODEN Properties, has spearheaded other revitalizations around the city like Longleaf Hotel + Gateway Plaza, and its next project is South Hills Mall in Cary.

Featuring a 170-key boutique hotel and over 30,000 sqft of street-level retail, this project is set to transform The Depot, currently home to Black & White Coffee, Videri Chocolate, and Tasty Beverage Co., but will preserve the historic 1912 building. Expect outdoor spaces, public plazas, and pedestrian-friendly connections to the Raleigh Convention Center and Red Hat Amphitheater.

“There’s real energy in this part of the city,” said Henry Ward, a partner at LODEN Properties. “We see The Depot as a key connector in downtown Raleigh that links people, ideas, and neighborhoods together.”

The project is set to be finished in 2028, and construction could start in 18 months.
