Big Raleigh native news. Robert Hartwell, an entrepreneur, director, choreographer, Broadway performer, and the latest — a television executive producer, recently made his way home to Raleigh to give a first glance at his new show, “Breaking New Ground”. The show follows Hartwell’s process of renovating his Massachusetts home originally built in 1820 as a plantation-style property.

Hartwell went viral in 2020 after purchasing the historical home built by enslaved people and starting a process of redemption + renovation stating that he would, “fill it with love and find a way to say their name.”

After four years of renovating and filming, the HGTV and Oprah Winfrey Network produced show will premier to the world on Thursday, June 27 by way of Max. Watch the trailer and subscribe now.
