Chancellor Randy Woodson to retire, leave NC State

Randy Woodson has served as chancellor at NC State for 14 years, and the UNC System is tasked with finding a new candidate to fill his shoes.

NC State Chancellor Randy Woodson announced he will step down and retire from his role on June 30, 2025, according to a university press release. Woodson is the 14th chancellor of the university and has held his role since 2010.

Woodson created multiple plans to propel NC State forward, including Wolfpack 2030. Learn more about the university’s plan to honor Woodson and “celebrate transformation.”

Woodson’s successor has not yet been named — the UNC System will decide the next leader of the university and is undertaking multiple chancellor searches, including one at UNC-Chapel Hill.
