‘Tis the season of small biz shoutouts — and this one deserves a well-tailored ovation. Meet lifestyle brand Pallbearer, co-founded by Pierce Rogers and Vivie Aravidis.

The “dealer in dead man’s clothes” is hosting a winter pop-up residency near Moore Square — don’t miss your chance to visit this curated secondhand goods store which showcases some of the Triangle’s coolest vintage vendors.

With style visions of Americana, grunge, punk, and streetwear dancing through Rogers and Aravidis’ heads, the duo teamed up with a diverse group of talented individuals for the ultimate retro shopping experience.

Though Pallbearer’s digs are available at five locations, including Cheshire Cat Gallery in the Village District, this pop-up features five more NC vintage brands — think: Miroco Vintage which offers chic womenswear with a world-class color palette — along with vintage jewelry and ceramics artists.

We asked Rogers and Aravidis a few questions to learn a bit more about the store which is open until Jan. 6, 2024, their favorite Raleigh spots, and of course, their favorite vintage finds.

Favorite spots in Raleigh

The Hightide Salon deserves a shoutout not only for their high-quality beauty work but also for their mentorship to other small businesses. I also can’t go a day without expressing my love for Oakwood Pizza Box — their pizza is arguably the best within a minimum 500-mile radius.

Favorite vintage piece

Vivie: Weirdly enough, it’s a pair of Y2K Levi’s I found on the ground in the East Village. While shopping around NYC, Pierce and I stumbled upon a pile of denim, on closer inspection it was a pair of perfectly distressed light wash Levi’s that were my size. They are my most punk pair of pants I own and I refer to them as my “New York Jeans.”

Pierce: I really love my AW2005 Dior Homme by Hedi Slimmane wool varsity jacket. It’s the perfect varsity jacket in my opinion, with its slim cut, piping and cuff details, and a fat white Lampo zipper. Really makes you feel special when you wear it out.

Join Pallbearer (111 E. Hargett St.) for its Friday Shopping Happy Hours from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to enjoy a complimentary cold beer or non-alcoholic drink and style advice from friendly faces. Additionally, the shop will be open late on First Night — “Come ring in the new year with a touch of new style,” said Aravidis.

We are looking forward to seeing what is on the horizon for this close-knit vintage community in the new year.
