Things to be thankful for in Raleigh, NC

Last week, we asked what about our city you’re thankful for this year, and in the spirit of the day, we wanted to share some of your answers:

“Please allow me to put in a good word to the Raleigh Parks, Recreation + Cultural Resources staff… We are fortunate to live in a city that values green spaces and cultural activities as much as Raleigh does. Kudos to the employees and volunteers who made sure those opportunities remained available through the annus horribilis that has been 2020.” — Reader Jon C.

“At the beginning of the COVID-19 shutdown in March, everyone was at home so the streets of downtown were basically empty. It was the perfect time for a bike-wary person to explore downtown by bike with basically no traffic. Raleigh has some terrific bike lanes around downtown and you see so much more when you’re not in a car. Evening bike rides in the spring were one of my favorite things I did this year!” — Reader Mary C.

“I’m grateful that Raleigh Raw continues to serve up health + wellness to our community.” — @driddledesign

“I’m thankful for Drive Shack; my husband gets to golf and I get to drink!” — @rescue_me_candle_co

“I appreciate being able to take a long walk around town, and cap it off with a beer outside at State of Beer.” — @kdddell

“I’m thankful for Raleigh Parks, especially the Capital Area Greenway system.” — @chipstagram + @the.veggie.feed

“I really enjoyed the temporary disc golf course they put up at Dorothea Dix Park. Hopefully they’ll bring it back.” — @fairy.boots

“I’m thankful for the best lunch in Raleigh, which in my opinion is at Seaboard Cafe.” — @staymarried2
