Hello Sunday.

September 12 2021

Raleigh is fallin’ into pumpkin season 🎃

Starbucks and Dunkin’ are already slinging their famed pumpkin spice lattes — that must mean fall is officially here, right? Not quite. The first day of fall is Wed., Sept. 22, but we know there’s no harm in getting an early start.

Whether pumpkin spice syrup runs in your veins, or you’re just looking for a new flavor to spice up your morning routine, check out this list of where to get your fall drink fix — locally.

  • The Optimist Raleigh: 1000 Brookside Dr. — The Optimist brought back their fall drinks on Wed., Sept. 1, including a Witching hour Latte, an Apple Bottom Beans cold brew, and An Apple A Day honey + rosemary apple cider.
  • Global Village Organic Coffee: 2428 Hillsborough St. — Global Village considers themselves “traditionalists” and waits to put out their fall flavors until after Labor Day, so you can expect pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin white mochas + maple cinnamon lattes starting Tues., Sept. 7.
  • Jubala Coffee: 2100 Hillsborough St. + 8450 Honeycutt Rd. — In about 2 weeks, Jubala will begin offering their fall menu, including drinks like a pumpkin spice latte, a campfire mocha, and a sparkling apple cider.
  • Sola Coffee Cafe: 7705 Lead Mine Rd. — In mid-to-late September, Sola will switch to their fall menu, offering pumpkin drinks, hot apple cider + cinnamon plum cider, as well as seasonal food.

How early is too early for places to sell fall themed items?

We’ll be asking when it’s appropriate to put out Christmas decorations next.

  1. It’s never too early for the best time of the year
  2. Give it a rest, wait until the first official day of fall
  3. Wait until the weather changes, it might stay 80 degrees until the end of October in NC

📸 @purrcupcafe

Purr Cup Cafe, located at 210 Prospect Ave., reached its goal of 100 adoptions before its first anniversary. This cafe is not your ordinary coffee shop — they also have rescue cats.

Purr Cup opened Oct. 1, 2020 + plans to continue its mission of finding homes for local rescue cats. Whether you want to show some love to the cats or take 1 home, make a reservation ahead of time.

THE WRAP

#Answered: Yesterday, we asked what game y’all would play first at Brookfields Indoor Golf & Lounge — zombie dodgeball won with 44.4% of the vote. If you play it, watch out, the zombies move surprisingly fast considering they’re not living.

Carly + Laura loved hearing the 100th adoption news from Purr Cup Cafe — they both adopted their fur babies locally, too. Carly’s dog Kona and Laura’s cat Lync both found their way to the girls by the way of Second Chance Pet Adoptions. Wonder if the animals were friends back at the center?
