Work has begun on NC Freedom Park, a project designed to highlight the African American experience in NC. A gravel parking lot located downtown between the NC governor’s mansion + state legislature will be transformed into areas for reflection and gathering. Raleigh’s City Council approved gap financing for three affordable housing proposals, which will create 344 new rental units. The units will be 70% area median income cost and 44 of the units will be at 30% AMI. The city’s Joint Venture Rental Development Program provides low-interest loans for developers, making rentals more affordable.
