As we enter the season of giving, we’re looking for ways to support Raleighites in need. Help out a neighbor by supporting these 10+ local causes now through the holidays.
Giving Tuesday
The following ways to give back are taking place today, Nov. 29.
Donate a pair of shoes or make a financial contribution to help Note in the Pocket provide 1,500 pairs of shoes to kids during Giving Shoesday.
Bring in two of The Green Chair Project’smost needed items between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and receive a free Tiff’s Treats cookie.
For every freezer casserole ordered through Fig’s Market, Catering Works will donate one to the Salvation Army of Wake County.
The Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC is tripling all donations today. This means that 15 meals will be provided for every $1 donated ($1 typically provides five meals).
December causes
Activate Good is hosting a Holiday Cheer Baking event on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Sign up to bake, individually wrap, and drop off 12-24 holiday treats to be shared with people experiencing homelessness.
Host a holiday meal for Raleighites experiencing homelessness with Oak City Cares. Sign up for a volunteer shift on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or the day after Christmas.
Help A Place At The Table check off some items on its Holiday Wish List. Donations range from name tags and whisks to PLACE Cards and rent payments.
Donate new toys to the Salvation Army of Wake County for its Toy Shop. Families in need will have the opportunity to shop for their children for free during the month of December.

A2.5-mile section of theNeuse River Greenway Trail between Milburnie Park and Anderson Point Park is closed now through early 2024. There will be a 2.6-mile detour between the parks. A GoFundMe has been started for the family of Hailey Brooks, the 11-year-old who died after being hit by a truck pulling a float at the Raleigh Christmas Parade. Funds raised will be used to support the Brooks family and establish a nonprofit in Hailey’s honor. Make a donation.
