Giving Tuesday

• Donate a pair of shoes or make a financial contribution to help Note in the Pocket provide 1,500 pairs of shoes to kids during Giving Shoesday.
• Bring in two of The Green Chair Project’s most needed items between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and receive a free Tiff’s Treats cookie.
• For every freezer casserole ordered through Fig’s Market, Catering Works will donate one to the Salvation Army of Wake County.
• All day, YogaSix classes are supporting causes including Coats for Kids, a toy drive, and a canned food drive. Sign up to flow for good (and check class descriptions for what to bring).
• The Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC is tripling all donations today. This means that 15 meals will be provided for every $1 donated ($1 typically provides five meals).

December causes

• Activate Good is hosting a Holiday Cheer Baking event on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Sign up to bake, individually wrap, and drop off 12-24 holiday treats to be shared with people experiencing homelessness.
• Drop off food donations for the ABC11 Together Food Drive on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at a designated Food Lion location.
• Visit an Angel Tree in the Village District to fulfill a child’s holiday wish, now through Saturday, Dec. 10.
• Host a holiday meal for Raleighites experiencing homelessness with Oak City Cares. Sign up for a volunteer shift on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or the day after Christmas.
• Help A Place At The Table check off some items on its Holiday Wish List. Donations range from name tags and whisks to PLACE Cards and rent payments.
• Donate new toys to the Salvation Army of Wake County for its Toy Shop. Families in need will have the opportunity to shop for their children for free during the month of December.

• ZincHouse Winery & Brewery, located on 80+ acres in Durham near the Falls Village Golf Course, is now open. The winery offers tastings and is available for corporate events and weddings. • A 2.5-mile section of the Neuse River Greenway Trail between Milburnie Park and Anderson Point Park is closed now through early 2024. There will be a 2.6-mile detour between the parks. Larger sewer pipes capable of handling more wastewater during storms will be installed during the closure. (The News & Observer)

• Raleighite and award-winning actress Ariana DeBose is performing at the 100th National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 11. Tune in to CBS at 8 p.m. to watch the annual event featuring more stars like Andy Grammer, LL Cool J, and Shania Twain. 🎄

• A GoFundMe has been started for the family of Hailey Brooks, the 11-year-old who died after being hit by a truck pulling a float at the Raleigh Christmas Parade. Funds raised will be used to support the Brooks family and establish a nonprofit in Hailey’s honor. Make a donation.

• Fa la la la la. Sola Coffee Cafe is hosting a Christmas sing-a-long on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. Join other carolers on the patio while you sip hot cider and munch on popcorn. 🎶
