Beech Bluff County Park — Wake County’s first new park in more than a decade — will break ground today at 2 p.m. The 300-acre park will have trails, community gardens, playgrounds, picnic shelters, a wildlife-viewing platform, classrooms, and more. The park is slated to open in 2024.

Gables Motel Lodge, a vacant hotel in the Mordecai neighborhood, will soon be renovated. Raleigh-based singer Tift Merritt and Durham hotelier Daniel Robinson plan to refurbish the historic property and turn it into a boutique hotel with 18 rooms, a bar, and a library.
